Agreed that 2014 was indisputably the year of Sam Smith. But, I still believe that Hozier should have been recognised at the Grammy for the amazing talent that he is. His melancholic song writing, the hearty vocals and that unique sound...bluesy rock, with a faint faint hint of country, made for one hell of a debut.
I am rediscovering his debut album this gloomy Thursday and it's making my heart flutter like I met someone new

On days when you are feeling a little blue...losing sight of the good things and feeling a little empty, a little inexplicable sadness (it happens to the best of us and its OKAY) this man will never, ever fail to life your spirits. Immerse yourself in his playful voice and goofy words... And before you know it, you'll be smiling and bobbing.
If you are feeling life blues, listen to his first album...Waiting for My Rocket to Come
If you are feeling love blues, listen to Love is a Four Letter Word. There's nothing better than be reminded how beautiful it is to feel selflessly hopeless...even when we are nursing a broken heart.
Hey...I told you he peps me up! OK I go now :)
Don't worry. We'll make it through. I promise.

I came to discovering my individual taste in music much late in life. I am a product of the generation that knows what cassette means. We witnessed the rise and fall of MTV, Walkman, Planet M, Discman. I am from the generation that paid for music, so exploration was pretty limited.
Growing up, I was exposed to some amazing and eclectic music by my dear father...I would wake up on Sunday mornings to Boney M, Michael Jackson, Pink Floyd and fall asleep to Kenny G, Ananda Shankar, Hariprasad Chaurasia's flute....As a tween I turned populist and veered towards OSTs and boy bands (in my defense, who didn't?) College is when I came on to experience a lot more music...James Blunt, Simple Plan, Nickelback...I felt cool that I knew them.
But, it wasn't until I met her that I experienced my musical awakening.
Year 2008. Amy Winehouse killed at the Grammy's.
It was also the year I graduated college and embarked on finding me. I admit to searching her after seeing the Grammy coverage and that is the day I realized how far I was from experiencing real music . And for that, I owe her big.
This song kills me each time, everytime, over and over...
AMY opens in theaters today and I can't wait to catch the show.
The trailer itself gives me goosebumps.
Oh darling girl, heaven is beautiful with you in it.
Here she is live in Glastonbury in 2007 before the Grammy fame. I love you.

You know that time you spoke to your beloved in hushed tones, snuggled under the sheets, giggling...and you fell asleep with the phone in your hands and dreamt of rainbows and hearts and him / her? And then you woke up all smiley and ad-y to find out on facebook.that last night he was with someone, somewhere he shouldn't have been. It crushed your heart and you lost faith in humanity. No?
Me neither.
But picture this. You walk in to an empty house after a hard days work, look around aimlessly...no one to say hi to, no mood to eat alone. Should I call someone? Nah.
You're lying down on your bed, staring blankly at the ceiling and suddenly you spring up and grab your music player. The voice in your earphones soothes you and as you drift off, you feel everything is gonna be OK.
And then when you wake up, this happens.
I cannot even.
I live in Mumbai, just incase you were wondering. The stunt was pulled in Delhi.
If you think I'm being dramatic well the incident was grave enough to attract international attention so yeah, take that!
I kid you not, every where I look..on the internet or around me, fans are going crazy! It became a trending topic on Facebook and like a LOT of upset fans I took to FB statusing to express my angst. Helped only slightly. I then went on to impose a ban on him which lasted exactly 1 hour.
Needless to say, Twitter went beserk and while celebs tom-tomed their dumb luck for the country to burn over, creative fans took the grief to humour with these gems.
@Bing Bang BING BONG...he and I could use a drink right about now.

So yeah. Thanks for this Chris. I still love you.

The other day I was going through the archives of the blog and I realised how my tone has changed over time. This year has been a lot of ups and downs for me and I feel present time is the closest to ZEN like I have been this year (if you knew me in person, you'd probably go "say waaaaaaat" but well...)
I also noticed that I let out some pretty intense emotions over here. On some level, I think I started this place to talk my mind to someone yet no one in particular and I am so thankful that I did this. Today, I am sending some gratitude to the Universe for being kind and with that here is what life has been like, lately...
Feeling excited to welcome new changes and turning the year around. There are 6 more months to go and I hope the positivity keeps on flowing
Needing to allow myself be and organically embrace new situations. I am trying to be kinder to myself and letting my mind and body adjust to new situations without hounding
Trying to be more regular with my workouts. Last week was so naughty...too much cake and not even a thought of working out. So yeah, here's looking forward to getting back in action this week
Listening to Jessie Ware, my new girl crush. That voice belting those volatile lyrics is perfect for rainy afternoons
Struggling to watch Mad Men more out of peer pressure than anything else. Being in advertising, I cannot even count the number of times a client has gone, "Oh I bet you love Mad Men huh!" Em, sure!
Reading ( rather trying to) ALEXANDER- Child of Dreams by Valerio Massimo Manfredi. The genre of historical fiction is new to me. finding it intriguing though very fiction like.
Looking forward to one of closest friends coming to town mid-July. Lots of planning underway for a super girly time.
The struggle of eating healthy breakfast continues. But after lots of belly aching I have decided that eating something is better than eating nothing, right? My mornings are now made of PBJs and a cup of milk. SO 3rd standard but SO good!
I was gifted an OTG last week & I am dying to inaugurate it soon. Any Level-1 baking recipes, anyone?

Wanting to do more DIY crafts. The other night I took the packaging of my new reed-diffuser set and turned it into a scrunchie holder. Next to nothing investment but felt so so good!
Enjoying playing squash with the boys on Saturday morning. Whattaway to start the weekend!

Planning more and more home decor. My heart is set on installing a swing door between the kitchen and living room. Just look how pretty! I also plan on expanding my window-garden and starting on the herb garden soon
Loving coming to this place every few days and having a conversation. I do see a lot of people dropping in and I just wanted to say, if you are reading this, I'd love to say hello and get to know you little better
Thanking the universe for all the love I received on my birthday. I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the awesomeness that is my life & how the last ten years have been anything but amazing in the beautiful city
Last week, as an act of utmost impulse I listed my apartment on AirBnb. This is also a good time to mention AirBnB is like a travel-porn site for lusty travellers. I spend my nights scrolling through listings and lusting! Oooohhya! :P Anyway, I'm excited to be a host and looking forward to how it turns out.
So how is life for you? Do you have any mid-year action plan? Is the weather nice?
